Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy
What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy ?
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is the use of oxygen as a medicine to treat certain diseases. To achieve this, 95 to 100% oxygen is administered to the patient in a chamber at a pressure higher than atmospheric pressure. This triggers various processes in the body, ensuring that more oxygen is delivered to areas where there are shortages (after brain trauma, heart attacks, etc.) and activates the immune system, resulting in better healing of inflammation. New blood vessels also develop, resulting in a significant improvement in large and difficult-to-heal wounds. HBOT can treat not only diseases, but it can also be important for athletes in their rehabilitation process or to boost their performance. Studies also show that the skin becomes younger and more elastic with HBOT. For this reason, several plastic surgeons prescribe this technique to achieve better results and a smaller scar after surgery.
